As local missionary directors for the Greater Clarksville Chapter, we serve in a seven-county area in north central Tennessee, which covers just under 3,000 square miles.  Our main responsibility at this time is to start after-school Bible clubs in the 58 public elementary schools in those counties.
 
So just what does a local director do?  In a nutshell, we speak with churches about adopting an elementary school; work with the church to put a team of volunteers together to run the club; train the volunteers; meet with the principal to set up all the logistics of using their school; help get the word out about club to the students; order curricula; and anything else needed to get the club started.  We attend the first few clubs to help work out all the 'bugs' and then we step out and let the team run it but are available to support the team by way of training, ordering curricula, helping resolve problems with the schools, etc.
 
This ministry includes:

  Starting after-school Good News Clubs in the 58 elementary schools to reach the 50,000+ children in our area;
  Coordinating summer 5-Day clubs in parks, homes and neighborhoods;
  Enlisting and training volunteers to help run the various evangelical and discipleship activities;
  Face painting and sharing the Gospel at fairs, festivals and other events;
  Teaching...training...mentoring...whatever it takes to win these children and their families to the Lord!
