Local Missionary Directors Purpose: Child Evangelism Fellowship® is a Bible-centered, worldwide organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, disciple them in the Word of God and establish them in a Bible believing church for Christian living. History: In 1937, Reverend Jesse Irvin Overholtzer, then 60 years old, was enabled by God to found Child Evangelism Fellowship, now the largest evangelistic outreach to children in the world. Ministry Statistics: In our 2009-2010 ministry year, more than 10 million children heard the Gospel around the world through the ministry of CEF, with more than 3 million children indicating to their teacher that they wanted to trust Christ as Savior. Many more may have been reached but not recorded. Praise God! The CEF International Board of Trustees has opened the work of CEF more than 160 of the 210 countries around the globe. In some of these countries the work is in its infancy; in most it is quite strong. We are looking to God to enable us to establish a CEF work in every country in the world by the year 2017, which is when CEF turns 80 years old. Staff and Volunteers: There are many missionaries and thousands more volunteers working tirelessly with CEF to share the Gospel with children around the world. Six Focus Points for the Culture of CEF: 1. Importance of Godly Leadership at Every Level 2. Importance of the Spiritual Welfare of Our Workers 3. Importance of Prayer as Our Foundation 4. Importance of Evangelizing Children 5. Importance of a Clear and Biblical Presentation of the Gospel 6. Importance of a Commitment Ministries: Over the past 70+ years God has given CEF a number of unique ministries which have proven to be effective tools in our effort to evangelize and disciple children. The top three ministries are: ~Good News Club® - Bible clubs that primarily take place one afternoon a week over the course of the school year. These clubs originally took place in people’s homes but have become more popular than ever following CEF's Supreme Court victory in 2001 which allowed Good News Clubs to take place in public schools across America. ~5-Day Clubs® - primarily take place over the course of a five day period of one week, during the summer months, and offer a unique opportunity for children to interact with teenagers/adults who receive specialized training in the Christian Youth in Action program. ~Mailbox Club - CEF Mailbox Club™ is a free Bible correspondence course for preschoolers through adults. It has rapidly grown to be one of CEF's most effective ministries. There are many children (and adults) enrolled from around the world, having the Gospel delivered right to their mailboxes. It is an effective form of evangelism and discipleship and is impacting the
world for Christ. While these are CEF’s main ministries, CEF is also involved in other areas of ministry as well: ~Wonderzone.com – an interactive children’s website; great discipleship tool for kids! ~Training – CEF strives to multiply our efforts by training others for working in local ministries to serving overseas. CEF training will make an impact in the lives of those who truly wish to reach the children with the Gospel. ~Literature - CEF writes, illustrates and publishes many teaching materials designed to share the Gospel with children and disciple them in the Word of God. CEF has unique methods that help teaching children become easier. The Wonder Devotional Book has become a huge success and teaches children to have a daily ‘quiet time’ with God.
